Riding provides time out from a busy schedule

Actress and director Helena Bergström has ridden in Mountain Horse clothing for many years now. This makes her the perfect ambassador for our collection, which has been specially developed for women who – like Helena – use riding as a way of getting away from it all.   “Some blokes buy themselves motorbikes when they hit 50, but I bought myself a horse when I hit 40,” says Helena Bergström, who’s never regretted her investment.

Horses – along with her job and children – are a huge part of Helena Bergström’s life, and she devotes lots of time and effort to them. She’s not a professional rider or competitor, though. She views riding as a great form of exercise, and a way of enjoying some “me time” where she can catch her breath and take a moment to reflect. At the same time, she gets a lot out of working with her horse. This is a form of communication based on mutual respect.

“Riding is a massively popular sport, especially for girls and women of my age who welcome a little time to themselves,” says Helena.

One of the reasons Helena Bergström likes Mountain Horse is because we’re a Swedish family company. We’re now embarking upon our third year together, with Helena as our safety ambassador and helping out with our product development. As a result of our partnership, we’ve launched the Helena Bergström Collection – a beautiful, elegant riding jacket with matching breeches.  “Mountain Horse always thinks of the rider and that’s what makes its clothes so good,” says Helena. “I know I’m getting a garment with all those details that make life easier when you’re out riding. And they look great too!”

As the Mountain Horse safety ambassador, Helena emphasises the importance of wearing a riding hat and body protector. Helena knows some people can be lazy about wearing these, particularly when they’re young, but she’s hoping to see a shift in the trend here. For this to happen, it’s important for safety wear to be comfortable and look great. “I hope our elite riders will act as good role models and that people will soon realise riding hats and body protectors are a must,” says Helena Bergström.
